Turner County has received a $3.1 million grant for a College & Career Academy to be based at the high school. This is a one-time grant.
The money will go toward expanding and enhancing school-to-work programs at the high school. School Superintendent Christy Wray said the new high school includes many of the school-to-work classrooms and equipment that the grant aims to provide.
"The grant is designed for and its nature is designed to be a facilities grant.
We are in very good shape. We built the facility (the new school complex). We can use the money to enhance the pathways we have.
"We are going to add what we have in place and what is coming with the new construction," she said. "Most other schools use the money to build what we already have in the new building plans. This grant will let us do even more.
